Sutton Place Penthouse Renovation Nearing the Finish Line!

Studioteka is back from a visit to our Sutton Place Penthouse project and we are thrilled to report that the build-out of this elegant home is coming along beautifully! Custom cabinet uppers in the kitchen, and bespoke millwork for the primary bath, all designed by Studioteka, are in place. Next steps include the installation of plumbing fixtures and appliances, along with the custom floor-to-ceiling double bunk and storage unit we designed for the guest bedroom. So very gratifying to see it all coming together from initial concepts through material selection, shop drawings, and fabrication. One of the things we love most are the little design decisions, tweaks, and refinements we make as a team on site. Along with the client and millwork contractor, we figured out some great new kitchen details that will put the finishing touches on this elegant home, so please stay tuned!

Back cabinet Shaker style uppers with soft close hinges are in place!
We designed an extra deep cabinet for above the Fisher & Paykel fridge, and three extra deep drawers for kitchen essentials!
Upper cabinets between the two windows. The kitchen has some idiosyncratic conditions that made the design process more challenging, but we managed to come up with a design that allows maximum light into the space while providing generous amounts of storage space.

The microwave gets a custom shelf, so we made some decisions and adjustments on site about the shelving, backsplash, and new window mouldings
We work very closely with our clients who are a big part of the process every step of the way

Ann Sacks and Porcelanosa tile were selected to gently blend with the white shaker style cabinetry and satin nickel finish pulls

The pulls add a touch of detail and elegance to the primary bath’s custom millwork
A new cabinet was inserted into a niche behind the shower plumbing wall, and a new Castrads cast iron radiator was added along the bathroom’s entry wall
We love the finish and this elegant detail which secures the cast iron radiator to the wall
Chrome hand shower and controls stand out against the white Ann Sacks tile
A rain shower and custom shower niche round out the space nicely
The double vanity is in place, waiting for the sinks and countertop to be installed
Cabinet doors are being added to the last section of the vanity

New Shaker style doors with quarter round are installed throughout the home, forging a beautiful contrast with the Porcelanosa tile flooring in the primary bathroom

A beautiful detail in marble around a special tile in the guest bath that has sentimental meaning to the client

And what would high end custom work be without a beautiful and very functional shower niche?
The guest bath also got a new cast iron radiator providing an elegant design solution that’s just a little bit steampunk!
Brand new exterior doors with transom allow lots of natural light to flood into the living room from the wrap around penthouse terrace
And a new wooden step was made by the millwork contractor to match the saddle thresholds at each doorway
New casement windows with transom and gold accented lever arms add a graceful note to the light filled living space
