Studioteka designs luxe new Gramercy residence with rock n’ roll retro flair!

November 8, 2022

Some recent design work for a fantastic client with a beautiful apartment in the much sought-after Gramercy Park section of Manhattan. Design for the kitchen and foyer features bold black and white marble tile and high contrast elements. Sleek black cabinets and an illuminated glass pantry accentuate the large open kitchen, while the generous living and dining areas have lighting coves that highlight subtle bas relief accents on the ceiling. Can’t wait for these renderings to come to life, stay tuned for updates!

Design for the kitchen and foyer have gone through many iterations, some of which can be seen here. Black and white and high contrast are a big part of the design theme, as are some of the large prints of 80s and classic rock album art which will be featured in this space.
The large open kitchen has a breakfast bar with a window to the dining area; the new windowed pocket door that separates dining and foyer can also be seen in this view. The glass enclosed pantry area will feature artwork as well as wine and gourmet treats. Studioteka has carefully curated the look of the custom kitchen, designed for a client who loves to entertain!
The breakfast bar is the perfect place for pancakes!
Another view showing the relationship between the entry and the kitchen and dining areas.
The foyer, with its black and white checkerboard tile and fresh white wainscoting, is a modern play on more traditional elements. A lighting cove highlights a chandelier at the center of the entryway, while dark walls provide a sharp and visually provocative contrast.
Another view, and a slightly different play on the entry space!
And still more iterations from the design team! Which is your favorite?
